Raesa’s UI v5.0

Yes, I’ve gone and done it again… I think I’ve moved enough things around to merit a whole new version rather than just a half-version update. Ta-dah! Flickr has my screenshots stored as v4.0 but it’s really 5.0!

Solo with target and while casting (fishing, really):

Wheres my Bloated Monsterbelly?!

Where's my Bloated Monsterbelly?!

Just idling in Dalaran:

/snore

/snore

In a raid with Omen mock-up:

What sucky loot from KT - not a single weapon!

Raid with Power Auras Classic mock-up (forgot to get a SS in combat :P):

Yellow = PoM, Orange = PI, Green = Penance

Yellow = PoM, Orange = PI, Green = Penance

Raid with partial Clique config:

There are more spells bound but I didnt want to link a whole new SS for only 3 more spells. Meh

The addons that you can see:

  • Bartender4 for action bars.
  • Chatter for … chat window.
  • Grid for raid frames.
  • Omen for threat.
  • oRA2 for MT frames.
  • Pitbull for player, target, and party (hidden in a raid) unit frames.
  • pMinimap for … minimap.
  • Power Auras Classic
  • Quartz for cast bars.
  • RaidCooldownsDisplay (bars right below minimap) to show what cooldowns have been used in the raid.
  • Recount for meters.
  • Satrina’s Buff Frames for buffs (upper left hand corner).
  • SLDataText for text info (top middle).
  • TipTac for tooltip.

Addons you can’t see:

  • AchievementSnap (godsend, really, except for all those extra screenshots it takes of my alts hitting level 10 or exploring Elwynn Forest; can be disabled but I’ve been too lazy)
  • AtlasLootReverse (places a line in item tooltips that tell you the source of the item)
  • ArkInventory (bag/inventory management – although it’s been giving me errors as of late)
  • AuctionLite (Auctioneer replacement without as many bells & whistles)
  • Autobar (set to hide until I hover over it)
  • AutoCombatLog
  • Cartographer2
  • DoubleWide for widened quest log.
  • FarmIt (keeps track of the number of items that I’m farming, only shown when actually farming)
  • FishermansFriend (double-right click auto-lure and casting)
  • Ghost: Pulse (keeps track of cooldowns that I don’t need kept in my face via POWA)
  • LilSparky’s Workshop (tradeskill windows)
  • OPie (with rings for buffs, tradeskills, quest items, and raid icons)
  • Outfitter (bar set to hide until I hover over it)
  • Proximo (thinking about Gladius – comments?)
  • SCT (Scrolling Combat Text)
  • SCTD (Scrolling Combat Text – Damage)
  • Prayer of Mending Tracker (auto-hide when not active)
  • Talented (replacement for default Talent pane)
  • WIM (WoW Instant Messenger!)

Changes from v4.0:

  • Deleted Eavesdrop, as I wasn’t making much use of it during combat. All my analysis comes from post-raid or post-encounter anyway.
  • Moved player, target, target of target, focus, and focus’s target to the left side of the screen, while moving Grid to the right side.
  • Changed the length, width, and overall information display of Pitbull unit frames.
  • Moved player cast bar from above Grid to below it, between Grid and action bars.
  • Moved Recount and Omen from upper left to bottom right, where Eavesdrop used to be.
  • Re-designed POWA auras to clear up screen clutter – big, obnoxious circles around my toon were only cool for so long.
  • Moved buffs from next to the minimap on the right to the upper left hand corner.
  • Moved RaidCooldownsDisplay from upper left to right below the minimap.
  • Replaced SexyMap with pMinimap.
  • Went through some interim font changes but ultimately settled on Arial Narrow for across the board.
  • Changed Grid frames to dark gray and using names to indicate class by color. Moved mana bars from vertical-right to horizontal-bottom.
  • Moved SLDataText info to top center and using pMinimap’s clock instead because it glows green when I have calendar invites I need to respond to while SLDT hid the Calendar but gave no indication I needed to reply to anything. Bad!
  • Unified textures of all mods across the board (using Charcoal for everything except Quartz cast bars, where I’m using Perl just for some oomph).
  • Had to get rid of QuestGuru – quest tracker wasn’t working with the new Blizzard tracker. I sure miss the sounds indicating I was making progress on quests though. No more, “Work complete,” in that zug zug way. ;)
  • Swapped in AuctionLite for Auctioneer.
  • Swapped in AutoCombatLog to replace Loggerhead, which wasn’t updated to include Ulduar in list of instances to start saving the combat log. :(

That’s it for now. I think I’ll be able to live with this for a little while before I get antsy and switch it up again. To tell you the truth, I’m starting to run out of ideas of how else I can streamline this baby. D:

Oh, it will be the end of me when that day comes.

What resolution do you run at in game?

Do you run a desktop or laptop?

    Mind sharing the specs?

    Not at all –

I run at 1440×900 on a last-gen MacBook Pro (not the new unibody ones). These screenshots were taken on a 24″ widescreen monitor.

You can probably look up the specs for the MBP online, as I don’t remember what they are specifically. The only difference is I run 4GB of RAM, rather than the stock 2GB models they had for sale.

I have my video settings set close to Ultra, with Shadow Detail and Player Textures set to low, Full Screen Glow Effect and Death Effect turned off.

    Thanks Raesa!

I have been trying to get a more ’spartan’ looking UI for a while, but it seems that I am missing two major components….the extra 2gb of RAM and the 24″ widescreen. ;-)

Unfortunately, my Dell Insperion 1750 doesn’t support 4gb…so i guess I am gonna have to get a new machine…Oh Well!! ;-)

The addons required for a aesthetics won’t really kill your memory usage too much so RAM shouldn’t be too much of a factor in-game. What using addons will do is lengthen your loading time after selecting which character to log onto.

As far as the monitor size – sizing down the scale of your UI will give you enough space to work with if you’re comfortable with smaller icons. :) On weekends, I play away from home so I can only work on the laptop’s native 17″ screen and before I got the MBP, I played on a 12″ PowerBook so I know where you’re coming from… lol
